Tuesday, Nov 14th:
We had a wonderful turnout tonight at a
Somerville town meeting that SDP made sure
happened, to allow citizens to talk about the
right of return of Palestinian refugees.
Too bad the mayor and aldermen made sure this
didn't happen till after the elections. Thank you
Ron, for organizing this event! [The photos
above show only a small group that lingered after
the meeting.]
Mazim Qumsiyeh, a Palestinian American
and member of the Wheels of Justice Tour gave
a wonderful speech; for me it was heartbreaking.
(Mazim is holding the round portion of the key in
photos 4 and 5.)
Not sure the aldermen were much moved tho; one
nonchalantly chewed gum through the whole thing;
the moderator, Thomas Taylor, seemed very
uncomfortable and tried repeatedly to cut off our
speakers. [Right in the midst of a moving
sentence about 17 Palestinians recently
slaughtered in Gaza - almost all women and
children - alderman Taylor says "can you
wrap it up?" Unbelievable. "Wrap it
up!" [Wrap up your tales of Israeli
atrocities that we want Somerville to help pay
for!!!]
Imagine: all the time in the world for the
zionists, and if it weren't for SDP getting the
signatures necessary to hold this meeting it
never would have happened. We had all of about 20
minutes. Mazim himself was originally told he had
20 minutes; then they tell him 15, and finally at
the last minute he's told he gets 10 minutes
only.
What a country!
[Thanks for the photos, Ron.]
I hope to write more soon on this latest
campaign. For now, In sum: we did well with very
few people to get the % YES votes that we did.
But imagine if more Americans, more people in the
P&J Industry had volunteered even a few hours
- even ONCE. For a summary of Somerville
& Cambridge voting results, see bridgenews.org/news/102006/prelim.
In addition, everyone was against us: the
politicians (in the pocket of AIPAC), mainstream
media, and the MA bigwigs who - willingly or
otherwise - kow tow to the Israeli agenda.
Best to all...

anti-american" ~ PF Soto
