Speak Out Against The US-Zionist-UN War on Sudan

Thursday, March 29th, 2007   10:30 am at the State House, Boston

Come speak in opposition to the state senate bill to divest from Sudan at the hearing at the state house Thursday morning. Please call your state senator and state rep and tell them that you are opposed to all the bills for divestment from Sudan. Mobilize others to speak against the US Zionist attacks on Sudan!

Come do a die in, banner drop, flyer, or speak out to help us in saying:

  • Stop Attacking Sudan
  • Stop the Racist Lies Against Muslims, Arabs And Africans
  • Stop the US Zionist UN war on Sudan
  • Divest From the Zionist Regime Occupying Palestine! Not From Sudan!
  • No War for Isntreal!
  • No war for oil! US Zionists, UN, AU, hands off Sudan's Soil!

Sudan is a country with a per capita GDP of less that $2500 per year whose people have already been hurt by US sanctions and boycotts. The US has starved Sudan with sanctions, instigated the civil wars in Sudan, armed the rebels, and then blamed the Sudanese government for all the deaths (whether by violence or famine or disease) and called it genocide

These anti-Sudan bills all demonize the government and people of Sudan, the largest country in Africa, falsely accusing them of genocide and terrorism

The bills are hypocritical. The US has definitely committed genocide in Iraq, and is supporting a genocidal colonial settler regime in Palestine. But the Massachusetts legislators are not considering divesting from "Israel" or divesting from US weapons manufacturers. The Sudanese government opposes the US war against Iraq and the US/Israeli oppression of the Palestinians. The Sudan divestment is aimed primarily at the Chinese oil company trying to stop China from obtaining oil from Sudan. The US already cut China off from Iraqi oil by invading Iraq. The Massachusetts legislators are not considering divesting from US oil companies who benefit from US imperialist warfare and neoliberal trade agreements forced on other countries by the US government at the behest of US oil companies. The bill to divest from Sudan, in addition to being an attempt to hurt China and to further impoverish and destabilize Sudan, is also an incitement for more US warfare against Sudan or a US-sponsored UN or NATO invasion of Sudan.

The bill that Thursday's hearing is about and that JCRC is pushing for (JCRC's anti-Sudan website: savedarfurma.org) is the state senate bill filed by Harriette Chandler, docket # SD01591, now known as bill # S01474. It is titled An act relative to pension divestment. Text is available at savedarfurma.googlepages.

All other anti-Sudan bills should be opposed:

  • Before the senate: Senator Edward Augustus' bill providing for the divestment of public pension funds from companies doing business in Sudan, docket # SSD00760, bill # S01437, refile # S2659.  Text here: mass.gov/legis/bills/senate/st02/
  • Before the house: Rep Denis Guyer's Act regulating divestment in Sudan, docket #577.  Text here: mass.gov/...ht02556.pdf
  • Before the house: Rep Jay Kaufman's Act relative to the prohibition of investment of certain public fund in companies doing business in Sudan, docket #1458. Text here: mass.gov/...ht03533.pdf

Explain to your state legislators that you don't want them to vote for bills to divest from Sudan and demonize Sudan.

This anti-Sudan propaganda campaign that is primarily organized and funded by zionist groups (especially the JCRC / CJP) is incredibly offensive. They are demonizing the government and people of the largest country in Africa. The US has starved Sudan with sanctions, instigated the civil wars in Sudan, armed the rebels, and then blamed the Sudanese government for all the deaths (whether by  violence or famine or disease) and callled it genocide. Meanwhile the US has sponsored a war in Congo in which millions of people have  died, and no one is talking about that - there are no Muslims to demonize and falsely blame in Congo.

The Sudan  divestment scheme is aimed primarily at the Chinese oil company trying to stop China from obtaining oil from Sudan. The US already cut China off from Iraqi oil by invading Iraq. The Massachusetts legislators  are not considering divesting from US oil companies who benefit from US imperialist warfare and neoliberal trade agreements forced on other countries by the US government at the behest of US oil  companies. The bill to divest from Sudan, in addition to being an attempt to hurt China and to further impoverish and destabilize Sudan, is also an incitement for more US warfare or a US-sponsored UN  or NATO invasion of Sudan.

Thanks for all you do, Pete
